Antibiotics
During the process of killing pathogenic bacteria, antibiotics also kill some beneficial bacteria in the body, leading to decreased appetite, fatigue, and decreased white blood cell count. Taking antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporins, or tetracyclines can also cause the loss of B vitamins and vitamin K, resulting in low mood, irritability, palpitations, and constipation.
Countermeasures:
During the course of taking antibiotics, you can drink a cup of yogurt every day and eat foods rich in B vitamins.
Effectiveness:
The probiotics in yogurt, which are non-pathogenic bacteria naturally present in the gastrointestinal tract, can not only alleviate the side effects of antibiotics but also promote digestion. Eating foods rich in B vitamins, such as soybeans, lean meat, and green leafy vegetables, can also improve this condition.
When to eat yogurt?
Yogurt should be consumed at least half an hour before or after taking medication.
The function of antibiotics is to kill bacteria, and the active bacteria in yogurt will be killed by antibiotics. Therefore, it is important to avoid taking antibiotics and consuming yogurt at the same time. If antibiotics and medications containing probiotics are used simultaneously, it can affect the effectiveness of the latter. Therefore, there should be at least a 2-hour interval between the intake of these two types of medications.
Nowadays, some dairy products such as yogurt also contain probiotics. To avoid affecting the effectiveness of medications, it is also not recommended to consume probiotic-containing foods around half an hour before or after taking antibiotics.
